A key meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday approved the budget for the public sector development program (PSDP) for 2026-27.
The meeting approved both federal and provincial development budgets.
The council was briefed on Annual Development Programs of all provinces through presentations.
The NEC also reviewed the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for FY2026-27, along with an assessment of PSDP implementation during the current fiscal year.
Progress reports related to development schemes were also presented, including approvals issued by relevant forums such as the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and ECNEC between April 2025 and March 2026.
Lawmakers also shared monitoring and evaluation reports on major and mega development projects, highlighting progress and implementation status across various sectors.
The meeting was attended by chief ministers of all four provinces, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and senior federal officials.
Key figures including provincial finance and planning authorities also participated in the session.
Chief Ministers of Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with the Chief Minister of Balochistan attended the meeting.
