Digital connectivity also expanded significantly during the year. Total telecom subscriptions reached 207.2 million, while broadband users increased to 161 million, driven by wider internet access and rising data consumption.

A key milestone was the country’s first major 5G spectrum auction held in March 2026, which generated around US$ 509.6 million. The rollout is expected to support faster connectivity, improved digital infrastructure, and expansion of tech-based businesses.

The government also approved the Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025 and expanded digital skills training programs. Under DigiSkills.pk, more than 5.14 million training enrollments were recorded, aimed at building a larger digital workforce.

Telecom sector revenues reached Rs. 837 billion, while the industry contributed Rs. 285 billion in taxes and duties.

Officials say the sector is becoming an increasingly important source of foreign exchange earnings. Analysts expect continued growth in software exports, AI adoption, and digital skills development to further strengthen Pakistan’s position in the regional digital economy.
