ECC Okays Rs. 86 Crore for First-Ever Human Moon Mission and Space Observatory

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Friday approved a Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) of Rs. 860 million for two major space sector projects, including Pakistan’s planned manned space mission.

According to an official statement, the funding was requested by the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) and SUPARCO for two Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) initiatives: the establishment of deep space and astronomical observatories in Pakistan and the Pakistan Manned Space Mission project.

The decision was taken during an ECC meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division on Thursday.

The approved grant will support the development of critical space research infrastructure and advance Pakistan’s long-term ambitions in human spaceflight and astronomical exploration.

The ECC also reviewed and approved several other funding proposals during the meeting.
