Lahore to Launch ‘Libraries on Wheels’ for Govt Schools

The Punjab education authorities have decided to launch a “Libraries on Wheels” project in government schools across Lahore to promote reading and digital learning among students.

The project, estimated to cost Rs. 198 million, will introduce a modern mobile library system to improve students’ access to books and digital educational resources.

Under the initiative, 85 electric vehicles will be purchased and converted into mobile libraries. Each vehicle will have 20 modern tablets and a large LED screen to support digital and interactive learning activities.

According to the plan, every mobile library will visit one school daily under a fixed schedule and provide educational services to students. The vehicles will be charged daily at designated charging stations set up within schools.

The District Education Authority said the project is expected to encourage book reading among students and help improve the overall quality of education in government schools.

CEO Tariq Mahmood said modern digital technology will be used to provide students with access to advanced learning resources, adding that both books and digital educational content will be made available through the initiative.
