The Punjab government has decided to expand its public-private partnership model by including government colleges in its privatization program alongside schools.
In the first phase, 150 public colleges will be handed over to the private sector during the summer vacations under the public-private partnership model. The government has also decided to phase out commerce colleges across the province.
As part of the policy, the Higher Education Department Punjab has approved the establishment of “Colleges of Eminence” in all tehsils. Under this initiative, one model college in each tehsil will be upgraded according to international standards.
The department has also developed benchmarks to select colleges on the basis of performance and quality. These include 10 mandatory criteria: academic reputation, highly qualified faculty, student performance, research and innovation, modern infrastructure, laboratories, library facilities, industry linkages, and internship opportunities.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at bringing government colleges in line with modern educational requirements and improving academic standards across Punjab.

The worst policies ever pursued in the history of the country. Shift everything to the private sector; education, health, and defense as well. Leave the country and let the system run in its own.
Education can never be priority for Mrs Safdar, CM Punjab. She herself couldn’t get education, coz she was adamant and such she will remain. No education no vision. She tried to purchase a degree.
