The Multan–Sukkur Motorway (M-5) will remain temporarily closed for traffic daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM starting 16 June due to MEPCO’s maintenance work on high-transmission towers and power lines.
According to Central Region Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, the Iqbalabad to Guddu section of the motorway will be shut during these hours.
During the closure, traffic will be diverted:
- Vehicles traveling from Multan to Sukkur will be rerouted from Iqbalabad Interchange to the N-5 National Highway
- Vehicles traveling from Sukkur to Multan will be diverted from Guddu Interchange to the N-5 National Highway
Heavy traffic will not be allowed to enter the motorway from Rohri Toll Plaza during the restricted hours.
The alternate route is approximately 148 km longer, resulting in an additional travel time of around 2 hours for light transport vehicles (LTVs) and 3 hours for heavy transport vehicles (HTVs).
Motorway Police have advised travelers to plan their journey in advance, allowing at least 30 extra minutes and checking alternative route information before departure.
