The Sindh government has approved scholarships for 2,662 university students under the Sindh Education Endowment Fund (SEEF).
The decision was made during a SEEF Board of Trustees meeting chaired by Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah. The board also approved scholarship renewals for 5,853 students already enrolled in higher education programs.
Officials said SEEF is currently supporting students from Sindh in 92 public and private universities across Pakistan. As of June 2026, the fund’s capital has reached Rs. 12.617 billion, with the provincial government adding Rs. 2 billion annually to expand access to higher education.
Since its launch in 2002, SEEF has helped 42,169 students complete university education across the country.
Shah said financial hardship should not prevent deserving students from pursuing higher education. He also directed officials to include new disciplines aligned with future job market needs.
The minister ordered a review of SEEF’s investment framework to increase returns and expand scholarships. He also called for full digitization of the fund’s operations and a third-party audit to improve transparency and governance.
The board directed the SEEF Executive Committee to prepare proposals for adding more universities, reviewing scholarship use by institutions, covering new disciplines, and further expanding the program.
Shah also expressed concern over the absence of university vice chancellors from the meeting and said their participation was necessary to make the scholarship system more responsive to students’ needs.
