WASA Cancels Staff Leave Ahead of Muharram

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has canceled the leave of all operational staff and officers to ensure uninterrupted services and effective arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram.

MD WASA directed directors of all towns to complete the cleaning of sewerage lines along procession routes and ensure the inspection of all manholes.

Authorities have also ordered the immediate repair of damaged manholes to prevent inconvenience for mourners participating in Muharram processions.

To address public concerns promptly, WASA will keep its complaint centers and emergency response units operational 24 hours a day throughout Muharram.

The agency has also instructed officers and staff to visit Imambargahs in their respective towns and review preparedness measures.

According to the MD WASA, focal persons have been appointed for all towns, while a central control room will continuously monitor the situation. Water tankers have been placed on high alert to ensure an uninterrupted water supply along procession routes.

In addition, suction machines, jetting units, and water bowsers have been deployed at key locations to respond quickly to any emergency. WASA officers and field staff will remain on duty around the clock during Muharram.

The agency has also formed special teams to handle complaints related to sewerage blockages and water shortages on an emergency basis, aiming to provide timely relief and maintain smooth arrangements during the holy month.
