The NDMA warned that rainfall combined with rising temperatures could trigger flooding in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir between June 16 and 19. Authorities also cautioned that accelerated glacier melt and possible glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) could lead to a sharp increase in water flows in rivers and streams in northern mountainous regions.

The alert identified Hasanabad, Shisper, Gulkin, Gulmit, Passu, Nagar, Ghizer, Skardu and Shigar among the areas facing a heightened risk of glacial lake flooding.

The NDMA further warned that heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides could disrupt road connectivity in vulnerable mountainous areas. Relevant departments have been directed to remain on high alert, particularly along sensitive highways and in northern regions.

Tourists and travelers have been advised to check weather and road conditions before traveling to northern areas, while provincial and district authorities have been instructed to remain prepared for any emergency situation.
