Pakistani universities have once again failed to make the world’s top 350 in the QS World University Rankings, with the country’s two highest-ranked institutions slipping further down the global list.
According to the latest QS rankings, Quaid-i-Azam University dropped from 354th place last year to 381st, while the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) fell from 371st to 384th.
Despite missing out on the top 350, 18 Pakistani universities were included among 1,504 institutions ranked worldwide.
Among the notable performers, the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) improved from 721st to 560th place. COMSATS University Islamabad climbed from 664th to 639th, while the University of Agriculture Faisalabad improved from 654th to 629th.
Several major universities, however, recorded declines. Punjab University slipped from 542nd to 588th place, while Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) dropped from 555th to 608th.
Among Sindh’s institutions, only the University of Karachi secured a place in the rankings, while no university from Balochistan was included in the QS World University Rankings 2027.
