Balochistan Govt Abolishes Religious Affairs Ministry

The Balochistan government has formally abolished the Religious Affairs Department, redistributing its assets and reassigning over 1,200 employees to other administrative divisions.

According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, the provincial government has dissolved the department with immediate effect.

As part of the restructuring, authorities placed the services of 1,237 employees under the direct control of divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners throughout the province.

The government also transferred the department’s physical assets, including vehicles, properties, and office infrastructure, to the Revenue Department.

In a significant financial shift, officials moved Rs4 billion in Zakat funds previously held by the department to the Balochistan Endowment Fund.

Administrative experts view this consolidation as an effort to streamline provincial operations and integrate religious affairs personnel into local governance frameworks.

The move marks a major shift in the province’s administrative structure, shifting focus toward centralized resource management.
