Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 Murree has been placed on high alert following forecasts of thunderstorms, strong winds, and rainfall in Murree, Galiyat, and adjoining areas over the next few days.
According to a Rescue 1122 Murree spokesperson, intermittent rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is expected in the region, increasing the risk of weather-related emergencies.
He said all emergency resources, including ambulances, fire and rescue vehicles, rescuers, and control room staff, had been put on full alert to ensure a prompt response to any untoward situation.
The spokesperson warned that heavy rainfall could increase the risk of landslides in mountainous areas, falling rocks and trees, slippery roads, traffic accidents, water accumulation in low-lying areas, and flooding in streams and waterways.
In view of the forecast, tourists and residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated on weather conditions.
He urged citizens and visitors to take precautionary measures during thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall, and to stay away from streams, rainwater channels, and landslide-prone areas.
The spokesperson advised the public to immediately contact the emergency helpline 1122 in the event of any accident, emergency, or need for assistance.
Rescue 1122 officials said all necessary arrangements had been completed to safeguard lives and property, adding that emergency teams were fully prepared to respond to any situation arising from adverse weather conditions.
