Meta has introduced a more affordable range of AI-powered smart glasses, lowering the starting price to $299 in an effort to make the technology accessible to more people.
The new Meta Glasses cost $80 less than the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses launched last year, while offering the same core AI features.
The new glasses are made in partnership with eyewear manufacturer EssilorLuxottica and mark the launch of Meta’s own smart glasses brand instead of relying solely on the Ray-Ban name.
The lineup includes three frame styles. Adventurer features a classic square design and comes in two sizes, while Fury has a thicker frame. Both models start at $299.
The third option, called Starfire, was designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner. It has a slimmer oval-shaped frame and starts at $399.
Across the lineup, Meta is offering 26 different combinations of colors and lenses. Buyers can choose from colors including black, green, and tortoiseshell, while lens options include prescription, polarized, and photochromic versions. The glasses also feature adjustable three-way nose pads to improve comfort and fit for a wider variety of users.
The hardware remains largely unchanged from Meta’s existing smart glasses platform. The glasses do not include displays in the lenses. Instead, they use built-in cameras, open-ear speakers, and multiple microphones for taking calls, reducing wind noise, and supporting voice commands.
Battery life is rated for up to eight hours of continuous use. The included folding charging case provides up to 40 additional hours of battery life.
The glasses are powered by Muse Spark, Meta’s new multimodal AI model. Users can activate the assistant with a dedicated action button to ask questions about what they are seeing, translate conversations in real time, or capture photos and videos hands-free.
Meta has also added support for 14 more languages for live translation and introduced a new dynamic photo burst mode designed to improve hands-free photography. The company says audio-based pedestrian navigation with turn-by-turn directions will also arrive in a future update.
The new Meta Glasses are available starting today through Meta’s website, Amazon, Best Buy, and selected eyewear retailers, including LensCrafters and Sunglass Hut.
