Vivo has launched the X Fold 6 in China as the successor to last year’s X Fold 5.
Leaks had predicted about a $1500 price tag for the X Fold 6 due to the global memory crisis, but defying all expectations, the X Fold 6 has launched at a much lower price despite the upgrades.
The new foldable introduces two major upgrades: a 200MP ZEISS main camera and a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. It also brings updated displays, a new MediaTek processor, and expanded multitasking features.
The Vivo X Fold6 features a 6.51-inch AMOLED cover display with a 20.3:9 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Its inner AMOLED display measures 8.02 inches and has a nearly square 4:3.7 aspect ratio. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
Vivo says both screens can reach a peak local brightness of 5,000 nits. The phone carries IP58 and IP59 ratings, protecting against dust, water immersion, and high-temperature pressurised water jets.
It comes in Blue Hole, Salt Lake, and Polar Night colour options. A separate Black Gold Edition is also available with the top memory configuration.
The X Fold6 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset.
It comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and as much as 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The phone runs OriginOS 6 Fold based on Android 16.
Vivo has added an updated Atomic Workbench multitasking feature that allows users to run up to five applications at the same time, with each app displayed in its own window.
The rear camera system is led by a 200MP ZEISS main camera using Samsung’s 1/1.4-inch HPB sensor.
The same sensor is used for the telephoto cameras on the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro.
The main camera is joined by a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera using the Sony LYT-602 sensor.
The telephoto camera provides 3x optical zoom. The phone also supports the optional ZEISS Teleconverter G2 accessory, which extends the camera system to a 200mm equivalent focal length.
The Vivo X Fold6 has a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, the largest capacity offered in a foldable smartphone so far.
This represents a 1,000mAh increase over the X Fold5. The phone supports 80W wired charging and 40W wireless charging, matching the charging speeds of its predecessor.
Pricing in China starts at around $1,177 for the 12GB/256GB model. The standard 16GB/1TB version costs approximately $1,618. The Blue Hole Professional Imaging Kit is priced at around $1,765, while the Black Gold Professional Imaging Kit costs approximately $1,809.
Vivo has not announced international pricing or availability.
