A government girls’ school in Hyderabad has earned international recognition after securing a place among the world’s Top 10 schools in the Community Collaboration category of the World’s Best School Prizes 2026.
Government Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain received the recognition from T4 Education, an international organization that highlights outstanding schools and educational practices worldwide.
The achievement places the Sindh government school among a small group of institutions selected from thousands of public and private schools across the world.
The World’s Best School Prizes recognize schools in five categories. These include Community Collaboration, Environmental Action, Innovation, Overcoming Adversity and Supporting Healthy Lives.
An international panel assessed the applications before selecting 10 schools in each category.
The Hyderabad school secured its position in the Community Collaboration category because of its close engagement with students, parents and the surrounding community.
The school has organized awareness campaigns and encouraged local residents to take part in educational activities.
It has also introduced innovative STEAM learning projects covering science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
These activities aim to make learning more practical and engaging for students. At the same time, the school has focused on the wider personal and academic development of its pupils.
The school’s community-led approach helped it stand out during the international assessment process.
Government Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain is reportedly one of only two Pakistani schools selected for the 2026 awards.
The other institution is a private school from Punjab.
The selection gives the Sindh school an opportunity to present its educational model to a global audience. It may also encourage other public schools in Pakistan to strengthen community partnerships and introduce practical learning initiatives.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah congratulated the school’s principal, teachers, students, parents and members of the local community.
They described the selection as a source of pride for Sindh’s public education system and Pakistan.
The provincial leadership said the achievement reflected the ability of government schools to gain global recognition through innovation, teamwork, and community participation.
The school is currently part of the Top 10 shortlist and has not yet been declared the category winner.
T4 Education will select one winning school in each of the five categories through its judging process. The shortlisted schools are also eligible for the Community Choice Award, which is decided through a public vote.
