The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved a major restructuring of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), granting the premier T20 competition full administrative and financial autonomy.
The decision was made during the 84th meeting of the PCB Board of Governors in Lahore. The meeting was chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, and the move was approved unanimously.
The decision marks a significant change in the governance of the PSL, which has been managed directly by the PCB since its launch in 2016.
The restructuring comes after months of discussions over the league’s financial structure and governance. Although the PCB has approved autonomy for the PSL, it has not yet publicly released the audited financial reports for the league’s last two editions.
The Board also approved the budget for the 12th edition of the PSL and cleared the surplus budget for the 2026-27 financial year. However, the PCB did not disclose the complete financial details of the new budget.
During the meeting, Chief Financial Officer Javed Murtaza presented a detailed overview of the board’s financial position and budgetary allocations for the upcoming fiscal year.
In another major decision, the PCB increased the domestic cricket budget by Rs. 1 billion. The allocation has now been raised from Rs. 3 billion to Rs. 4 billion.
The Board also approved significant increases in player compensation. Match fees for players taking part in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy have been more than tripled, rising from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 100,000 per match.
Reserve players will now receive Rs. 50,000, compared with the previous amount of Rs. 15,000.
