A two member team from the United Kingdom’s Department for Transport (DfT) has begun its annual aviation security assessment of Pakistan’s airports, airlines, and aviation security arrangements.
The delegation arrived in Lahore on Sunday and started its assessment at Lahore Airport on Monday. The team is scheduled to inspect Islamabad International Airport on Wednesday as part of the ongoing review.
The UK delegation comprises Alexander and Adman and is accompanied by Nasir, a representative of the British High Commission in Islamabad.
The assessment covers aviation security measures at airports, airlines, and the Airport Security Force (ASF). After completing the inspection, the team will submit its findings to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).
The assessment is being coordinated by PCAA’s Aviation Security National Inspectors under the leadership of Director Aviation Security and Facilitation Air Commodore (Retd.) Shahid Qadir.
UK DfT teams conduct aviation security assessments of Pakistani airports every year. While Islamabad International Airport is inspected regularly, this marks the first assessment of Lahore Airport by the UK team in nearly five years.
