The Punjab National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has established a dedicated special cell to fast-track the investigation and resolution of cybercrime cases involving women, girls, and children.
Punjab NCCIA Director (Operations) Muhammad Ali Wasim announced that the new unit will focus on protecting vulnerable groups from harassment, blackmail, and online exploitation.
Under a “zero-tolerance policy,” the cell will take strict legal action against individuals involved in creating fake social media accounts, unauthorized sharing of private content, and digital blackmail.
A deputy director will supervise the special cell to ensure immediate case management and timely justice.
The unit also aims to provide legal assistance, victim support, and safeguards throughout the investigative process. To ensure efficiency, the agency has assigned six dedicated officers specifically to this cell.
According to NCCIA data, women report approximately 21.6% of the 171,600 cybercrime cases registered with the agency. Lahore leads the province in digital crime reports, accounting for 18% of total cases, with financial fraud remaining the most frequently reported offense.
Director Wasim encouraged victims to contact the NCCIA without fear, reiterating that the agency will act promptly on every complaint to enhance digital safety across the province.
