Punjab Traffic Police has launched a province wide crackdown on motorcyclists riding without helmets, with violators now facing not only fines but also the impoundment of their motorcycles for one day.
According to the authorities, helmet use has been made mandatory across Punjab to improve road safety and protect the lives of motorists. Under the new enforcement policy, riders caught without helmets will receive a traffic challan, while their motorcycles will also be impounded for 24 hours.
Officials said the campaign to ensure 100 percent helmet compliance has officially begun, with traffic police directed to strictly enforce the new rules across the province.
The authorities are also continuing action against motorcyclists violating lane discipline. According to officials, more than 20,000 motorcycles were impounded last month for lane line violations.
Officials said the measures are aimed at reducing traffic accidents and improving road safety across Punjab. They urged motorcyclists to always wear helmets and follow lane discipline while driving.
Meanwhile, Punjab has also introduced a new digital challan system across the province, including Lahore. Under the new system, every traffic challan will be issued with complete digital evidence to improve transparency and enforcement of traffic laws.
