The federal government has developed a mobile application to register small retailers under the new Fixed Tax Scheme, with the final version expected to be launched next week as part of efforts to expand the tax base and simplify compliance.
According to Finance Ministry sources, the app will undergo trial testing this week before its official launch. Retailers will be able to begin registering through the application from August, while those enrolled under the scheme will be required to file their tax returns in September.
The app will be available in Urdu, English, Sindhi, and Balochi to improve accessibility for retailers across the country.
Registered retailers will also receive an FBR Green Plate, which will identify businesses enrolled in the tax scheme.
Sources said the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has already collected information on more than 3.5 million retailers as it prepares to roll out the initiative nationwide.
The government has set a revenue target of Rs. 50 billion from retailer registrations under the Fixed Tax Scheme during the current fiscal year. Officials expect the mobile app to make registration easier, improve compliance, and encourage more small businesses to enter the formal tax system.
