Punjab Traffic Police has decided to strictly enforce the lane discipline system across the province, directing all Chief Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers (DTOs) to intensify enforcement and launch a wider public awareness campaign.
Punjab DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir instructed patrolling officers to strengthen monitoring and take strict action against motorists violating lane rules.
The crackdown will target drivers involved in driving in the wrong lane, frequent lane changing, and overtaking without using indicators. According to the DIG Traffic, more than 627,000 actions have been taken against lane discipline violations across Punjab so far this year, including over 300,000 violations in Lahore alone.
He said adherence to lane discipline is essential for improving traffic flow, reducing road accidents, and ensuring the safety of road users. Drivers were also urged to use indicators while changing lanes or overtaking to alert other motorists.
The DIG Traffic further advised motorcyclists to always use the left-most lane and follow traffic laws to ensure their own safety as well as that of other road users.
