Mazar-e-Quaid May Finally Reopen to Public Soon

A subcommittee of the Senate Standing Committee on National Heritage has recommended reopening Mazar-e-Quaid to the public after reviewing security and management issues at the national monument.

The meeting was chaired by Senator Waqar Mehdi, who later briefed the media along with Senator Bushra Anjum.

Senator Mehdi said Mazar-e-Quaid is the face of Pakistan and its administration must be further improved. He urged all relevant institutions to play their role in upgrading facilities and strengthening management at the mausoleum.

He noted that security concerns remain the main reason the monument has stayed closed to the general public for the past three to four years. However, he expressed hope that it would be reopened soon after the required security measures are addressed.

The committee has also formed a panel to examine security arrangements and recommend steps that would allow public access while ensuring safety.

Another meeting with the Mazar-e-Quaid Management Board will be held within the next 15 days to review progress on the recommendations.

Senator Bushra Anjum said efforts are underway to beautify Mazar-e-Quaid further. She also urged the media to highlight the importance of the national monument in a positive way and supported reopening it to the public at the earliest.
