The Supreme Court of Pakistan has opened applications for its Law Clerkship Program 2026, giving young lawyers a chance to work closely with the country’s highest court for one year.
As per the official guidelines, 18 Law Clerk positions will be filled through this program. Selected candidates will join in different batches, with placements planned for August 2026, November 2026, December 2026, and February 2027.
Candidates interested in applying must submit their applications by 23 July 2026. The Supreme Court has advised applicants to read the guidelines carefully before applying, as they form an important part of the application process.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be citizens of Pakistan and must be 28 years of age or below by the application deadline.
Candidates must have a law degree from a recognized institution. Those holding a BA-LLB must have at least a CGPA of 3.0 or equivalent, while candidates with an LL.B (Honours) must have Second Class Honours Upper Division or equivalent.
Final-year law students can also apply, but they must complete all degree requirements before the start of the clerkship. Applicants must also have completed their qualifying law degree within four years of the application deadline.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be assessed through a detailed evaluation process. The Supreme Court will review candidates on the basis of their legal research, academic record, practical exposure, motivation for public service, and interview performance.
The assessment weightage is as follows:

Interview
The interview will carry the highest weightage at 50%. During the interview, candidates may be assessed on legal understanding, analytical ability, communication skills, judgment, temperament, professionalism, and overall suitability for judicial work.
