The Balochistan government has issued an official notification establishing new divisions and districts across the province.
Following the administrative restructuring, Balochistan will now consist of 11 divisions and 41 districts, up from 8 divisions and 36 districts. The provincial Revenue Department issued the notification after decisions approved by the Balochistan cabinet.
Balochistan’s 11 Divisions
The province’s 11 divisions are Quetta, Rakhshan, Makuran, Naseerabad, Zhob, Loralai, Koh-i-Suleman, Pishin, Lasbela, Sevi and Khuzdar.
The government also revised the official spellings of Makran and Sibi to Makuran and Sevi, respectively.
Quetta Divided Into Two Districts
The government has divided the former Quetta district into Quetta East and Quetta West.
Quetta East will include the Sariab, Saddar and City subdivisions.
Meanwhile, Quetta West will consist of the Kuchlak, Brewery and Panjpai subdivisions.
The government has also separated Mastung district from the former Kalat Division and added it to Quetta Division.
As a result, Quetta Division will now comprise three districts: Quetta East, Quetta West and Mastung.
Kalat Division Abolished
The Balochistan government has abolished Kalat Division and replaced it with two new administrative divisions named Khuzdar and Lasbela.
Khuzdar Division will include Khuzdar, Kalat, Surab and the newly created Wadh district.
Meanwhile, Lasbela Division will comprise Lasbela, Hub and Awaran districts.
New Pishin Division Established
The government has also established Pishin Division.
The new division will include Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Chaman and the newly created Barshore district.
The authorities formed Barshore district by dividing the former Pishin district into two separate administrative units.
Sibi Division Renamed Sevi
The Balochistan government has renamed Sibi Division as Sevi Division.
Under the new structure, Sevi Division will consist of Sevi, South Dera Bugti and Kachhi districts.
The administrative changes have raised the total number of divisions in Balochistan to 11 and the number of districts to 41.
