The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially launched the second season of its Talent Hunt School Cricket Program, with plans to expand the initiative to 100 districts across the country.
The program was launched during a joint press conference addressed by PCB Senior General Manager Domestic Cricket Usama Sheron Niazi and former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
Speaking on the occasion, Niazi thanked PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for supporting the development of school cricket and the talent hunt initiative.
He said the program aims to identify talented players at an early age and provide them with opportunities to develop their skills. He added that school cricket plays a key role in producing future stars in several cricket-playing countries.
Last year, school cricket competitions were held in 39 districts. This year, the program has been expanded to 100 districts, with 1,200 schools selected from nearly 3,000 registered institutions.
The competitions will be held in four stages, with the first phase scheduled to take place from September 15 to October 20.
Niazi also announced that 16 regional cricket academies are being established across the country with the approval of the PCB chairman.
The academies will operate throughout the year and will focus on training young cricketers, improving their skills, and strengthening the country’s player development system.
