Rawalpindi Introduces New Mandatory Requirement for Schools

The Rawalpindi District Education Authority has ordered the urgent installation of modern CCTV cameras and biometric attendance systems in all education offices and government educational institutions across the district to strengthen security and improve attendance monitoring.

The decision came during a meeting chaired by Rawalpindi Commissioner Salman Ghani, who declared the installation of CCTV cameras and biometric attendance systems in education offices and government schools a top priority and directed officials to implement the measures without delay.

Following the meeting, the authority directed district education officers for secondary and elementary education, including both male and female wings, to ensure the installations are completed. It also instructed the heads of all boys’ and girls’ government schools to comply within 24 hours and submit reports.

The authority said biometric attendance, monitoring and security have become essential for the education system. It directed all education officers and heads of institutions to submit compliance reports within three days and warned that officials would face strict action for failing to comply.

The Punjab School Education Pensioners Association welcomed the decision to install CCTV cameras in government educational institutions.
