Pakistan Women’s Junior Hockey Team Qualifies for Asia Cup 2026

The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has formally invited Pakistan’s junior women’s national team to compete in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2026.

The AHF confirmed Pakistan’s qualification in an official letter sent to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). It said the team had earned a place in the continental tournament based on its final ranking in the Women’s Junior AHF Cup, which concluded last week.

Pakistan finished last in the five-team qualifying tournament after losing all four of its matches. The team suffered defeats against Hong Kong China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Bangladesh.

Despite the winless campaign, Pakistan remained eligible for the Women’s Junior Asia Cup because of its final position in the competition.

“The Asian Hockey Federation is pleased to congratulate the Pakistan Junior National Team on its successful qualification for the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2026,” the AHF said in its letter.

“The team has earned qualification based on its final ranking in the Women’s Junior AHF Cup 2026.”

The Asian governing body said the letter served as official confirmation of Pakistan’s qualification and eligibility to participate in the tournament. However, the team’s participation remains subject to compliance with the event’s administrative requirements and regulations.

The AHF asked the PHF to confirm Pakistan’s participation by Friday, July 24, 2026. It said an early response was needed to complete preparations related to accreditation, travel, accommodation, scheduling and other operational matters.

“We kindly request your federation to confirm its participation by 24 July 2026 to facilitate the timely completion of all tournament preparations, including accreditation, travel, accommodation, scheduling, and other operational arrangements,” the letter stated.

If the PHF accepts the invitation, Pakistan’s junior women’s team will compete in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup for the first time since 2012.
