Apple MacBook Neo to Return With Two Main Upgrades

Apple is reportedly working on a new MacBook Neo with two major upgrades, including a faster A19 Pro chip and more RAM.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the updated MacBook Neo is among 11 new Mac models Apple plans to release. The new model is expected to replace the current MacBook Neo, which launched earlier this year.

The next MacBook Neo is expected to move from the current A18 Pro chip to the newer A19 Pro.

The memory is also expected to increase from 8GB RAM to 12GB RAM. That would make the second-generation MacBook Neo better suited for multitasking and heavier everyday use.

New Colors Expected

The report also suggests that Apple is planning new color options for the next MacBook Neo.

The current model is available in Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo. However, the report did not mention which new finishes Apple may add.

Launch Timeline

Bloomberg did not confirm an exact launch date for the next MacBook Neo.

However, a release in the first half of next year appears likely, as the current model was launched in March this year.

Price Hike

The first MacBook Neo launched in the US at $599, making it Apple’s most affordable MacBook.

Apple later raised the starting price to $699 last month. Despite the increase, the MacBook Neo remains much cheaper than the MacBook Air, which now starts at $1,299.

Customers in the US can still get the MacBook Neo for as low as $599 through Apple’s education store, if they are verified college students or meet other eligibility requirements. Certified refurbished models may also be available at that price.

High Demand

Apple previously said the MacBook Neo was in high demand.

However, it remains unclear whether the recent $100 price increase will affect sales. Apple’s next quarterly earnings report is scheduled for July 30, which may give a clearer picture of MacBook demand.
