HMD Nokia 123 Shield Has 19 Day Battery-Life

HMD has introduced the Nokia 123 Shield, a new basic feature phone built for users who need a simple and durable device.

The company is positioning it as its most affordable Nokia phone with water and dust resistance. HMD has not announced a global price yet, but retail listings in Bulgaria and Greece show the phone priced between $40 and $45.

Design and Display

The Nokia 123 Shield has a simple plastic body with textured sides for better grip.

The phone also has a rubber flap at the bottom to protect its ports from water, sand, and dust. Under the flap, users get a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port.

It weighs 108 grams and comes in Green and Purple color options. The phone has a 2.4-inch QVGA display.

Internals and Software

The Nokia 123 Shield runs on the S30+ operating system.

It is powered by the Unisoc SC6531E processor and comes with 4MB RAM and 4MB internal storage.

Users who want to store files or music will need a microSD card. The phone supports cards of up to 32GB.

The device only supports 2G networks on GSM 900/1800 bands. It also has a dual Mini SIM setup. This may limit its usefulness in countries where 2G networks are being phased out.

Camera and Features

The Nokia 123 Shield has a basic QVGA rear camera with an LED flash.

It also includes an FM radio, which works with or without wired headphones. HMD has added a built-in flashlight as well, which it says is brighter than the one on the older Nokia 110.

Battery and Pricing

The phone packs a removable 1,750mAh battery.

HMD says it can provide up to 27.9 hours of talk time and up to 19 days of standby time.

The Nokia 123 Shield does not have an official global price yet. Current retail listings in Bulgaria and Greece place it between $40 and $45.
