Son of Slain Pakistani Journalist Earns Master’s Degree from UK University

Kamran Hayat, the son of slain Pakistani journalist Hayatullah Khan, has completed a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Teesside University in the United Kingdom.

Kamran was only a young child when his father, Hayatullah Khan, was abducted in North Waziristan in December 2005. The journalist’s body was recovered months later in June 2006 after he had gone missing while reporting from the tribal region.

According to reports, Kamran’s mother was also killed in a grenade attack in 2007, leaving him and his siblings orphaned at a young age.

Despite facing years of hardship, displacement, and financial challenges, Kamran continued his education in different schools across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before completing an undergraduate degree in Accounting in Abbottabad.

He later secured admission to Teesside University in the UK to pursue a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance. Reports said he supported himself through part-time jobs while completing his studies.

Kamran recently shared photographs after graduating from the university, where he successfully completed his MSc program.

His academic achievement has drawn praise on social media, with many describing it as a story of resilience and determination in the face of personal tragedy.

Hayatullah Khan was widely known for his reporting from North Waziristan and was among the prominent journalists covering security issues in Pakistan’s tribal areas during the mid-2000s.

Kamran’s graduation comes nearly 20 years after his father’s death and represents a significant personal milestone following years of adversity.
