The All Pakistan Tankers Association and contractors have given the government a 72-hour ultimatum, warning that they will launch a countrywide wheel-jam strike if their demands are not met.
At a joint press conference in Karachi on Thursday, the association said the Ministry of Petroleum and OGRA would be responsible for any strike that follows. The group demanded an increase in the quota for the White Oil Pipeline.
Association representative Abidullah Afridi said oil tanker fares had remained unchanged for the past three years, while motorway toll tax had increased by 180 per cent. He urged the government to revise fares in line with the rise in toll charges.
Afridi said the Ministry of Petroleum and OGRA had forced the association to take this step.
