Pakistan has officially launched its first and largest purpose-built AI-ready data center campus, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital infrastructure as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated Karakoram-01 in Islamabad.
The facility has been developed by Sky47 Limited, a majority-owned subsidiary of Mari Energies Limited through its wholly owned subsidiary Mari Technologies Limited. The company described Karakoram-01 as Pakistan’s first purpose-built campus designed to support artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and mission-critical digital services.
According to the company, the campus combines enterprise-grade data center infrastructure, sovereign cloud services, high-performance AI computing, cybersecurity, and managed technology services within a single ecosystem.
It is designed to host critical workloads for government organizations, financial institutions, telecom operators, healthcare providers, and technology companies while keeping data hosted within Pakistan.
Mari Energies said the inauguration represents an important step in Pakistan’s digital transformation by strengthening secure, resilient, and locally hosted digital infrastructure. The company added that the facility will give organizations greater control over sensitive data while supporting the country’s growing demand for AI and cloud services.
The announcement follows Mari Energies’ earlier disclosure in January regarding the launch of Pakistan’s largest cloud and AI infrastructure platform. The latest development was disclosed to the Pakistan Stock Exchange as material information under the Securities Act, 2015 and PSX regulations.
