Pakistan mystery spinner Usman Tariq is set for another season in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) retained him for the 2026 campaign.
TKR confirmed their overseas player roster as they strengthened the squad for their title defense. Usman Tariq was named among five international players selected by the franchise for the upcoming Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League season.
Usman Tariq earned his place after playing a key role in TKR’s championship-winning campaign last year. He finished as the team’s leading wicket-taker with 20 wickets in 10 matches.
His control and variations during the middle overs made him an important part of the Knight Riders’ bowling attack.
Usman Tariq, who made his T20 international debut for Pakistan against South Africa in November 2025, will now return as TKR attempt to retain the CPL title.
The franchise has also confirmed England opener Alex Hales, New Zealand batter Colin Munro, South Africa’s Matthew Breetzke and Sri Lankan all-rounder Amshi de Silva as its other overseas players.
Hales returns after finishing as the fifth-highest run-scorer in last year’s CPL. The explosive opener was part of England’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2022 and has extensive experience in the T20 Blast, Big Bash League and international cricket.
Munro is set to play his ninth season with TKR. The left-handed opener is the highest run-scorer among overseas players in CPL history and has established himself as one of franchise cricket’s most destructive opening batters.
Breetzke joins the franchise after scoring a record-breaking 150 on his ODI debut against New Zealand. The South African batter also represented Lucknow Super Giants during the 2025 Indian Premier League and is expected to strengthen TKR’s middle order.
Sri Lankan batting all-rounder de Silva completes the overseas roster. He progressed through Sri Lanka’s age-group system, including the ICC Under-19 World Cup, before representing Sri Lanka A. He will add balance and depth to the squad.
The overseas players will join a strong West Indies group led by captain Nicholas Pooran. Experienced players Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Akeal Hosein are also part of the squad.
Dwayne Bravo will return for his second season as head coach as TKR prepare to defend their championship with a balanced squad of experienced franchise players and emerging international talent.
