Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced that the Korangi No. 5 flyover will open to traffic on August 15, providing another major road link aimed at improving traffic flow in the city.
Wahab made the announcement while chairing a meeting at the Council Hall to review municipal arrangements ahead of Rabi-ul-Awwal. During the meeting, he said the city administration had finalized a plan to address civic issues before 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.
The announcement comes days after authorities opened the newly constructed Munawar Chowrangi Underpass in Gulistan-i-Jauhar to traffic. Officials inaugurated the underpass during a ceremony attended by elected representatives, senior government officials, engineers, Karachi Development Authority (KDA) officials, and local residents.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Mayor Wahab said the underpass would improve traffic flow and reduce travel time between some of Karachi’s busiest residential and commercial areas.
The opening of the Korangi No. 5 flyover will further expand the city’s road infrastructure and is expected to ease congestion on one of Karachi’s busiest traffic corridors.
