Burger King Announced a Major Change Concerning Its Menu

Burger King parent Restaurant Brands has announced several major changes to the restaurant chains’ menu. Not a lot of people noticed that in December Burger King had removed some items from its menu. The removed items included sundaes and a small cup for kid’s beverages. However, this time, the company is making bigger cuts that everyone will notice.

Fewer Menu Items

Burger King’s parent company said on Tuesday that they will be making a change concerning its most famous sandwich, the Whopper. The popularity of Whopper makes it a multi-billion-dollar brand and removing it from the discount menu will bring in more sales. Tom Curtis, President of Burger King’s North America Operations, said in an interview, “The Whopper is a multi-billion-dollar brand and we need to treat it as such.”

Furthermore, Jose Cil, the CEO of Burger King’s parent company, said, “Burger King’s Whopper is an iconic product that has been on this core discount platform for too long,”. Thus, Burger King decided to remove Whopper from the discounted menu.

Though currently, the company has decided to remove it, they could offer limited discounts on the burger in the future. Moreover, customers will be saying goodbye to some of the less popular items like sundaes, whipped toppings, and chocolate milk. The updated menu includes the Big King Sandwich, the Single Quarter Pound King Sandwich, the Fish Sandwich, and the Original Chicken Sandwich.

Burger King Raising Menu Prices

The idea behind cutting several menu items is to improve service by simplifying operations. This also includes speeding up service at its drive-thrus. Thus, these will eventually lead to improved sales. In addition to Burger King’s menu undergoing major changes, it is expected to get more expensive the following year. This is to combat inflation as the company is paying higher costs for shipping, labor, and commodities amid COVID-19 related disruptions. However, there are no specifics on when to expect the increase in prices.
