The video of the police officers celebrating the birthday of an officer within the premises of the police station has been making rounds on social media. The Station House Officer (SHO) and a lady sub-inspector of Lahore’s Faisal Town police station were suspended for celebrating a birthday inside the police station and covering the CCTV camera to hide the celebration. The matter was brought to light when the video went viral on social media.
The video clearly shows that the camera was reportedly covered for a cake-cutting celebration at the workplace. According to the police, the Operations at the deputy inspector general’s (DIG) office monitors the CCTV cameras installed at the SHOs’ offices across the city. Therefore, the matter was immediately reported to the Operations DIG. Immediate actions were taken and the DIG suspended the SHO and the Lady cop.
According to the reports, there was a similar incident in 2019. The incident involved a female cop in Pakpattan city of Punjab. The female cop was removed from her post after her video of dancing went viral while being on duty. The video invited immense wrath from its viewers. This is probably one of the reasons that SHO’s offices are constantly under surveillance.
