OPTP is Being Roasted for Being a Copycat of McDonald’s

Marketing is all about seeking the public’s attention in order to gain popularity and to strengthen the customer-company relationship. In the competitive world of marketing, the ad campaign needs to be innovative so that it instantly catches the customer’s attention.

Fast-food chain OPTP recently came up with the idea of sending an innocent yet not so innocent text message to thousands of people in Pakistan that says “BUHAT TYT”.

However, this idea is not new and there are chances that the said OPTP message takes its “inspiration” from the McDonald’s viral ad campaign. Back in August of this year, McDonald’s sent a similar text message to many people across the country saying “Podina Lay Aun??”

The idea was certainly fresh back then that caused turmoil on Twitter. Even now, people have funny things to say about the “BUHAT TYT” message by OPTP.

Netizens are pointing their fingers at OPTP for clearly copying McDonald’s marketing technique.

While many people are not taking this message lightly and are calling out this message as inappropriate!

Many people are calling it advertisement plagiarism and that OPTP can certainly come up with something better than this.

Although this is a marketing campaign, nevertheless the text message is sort of weird and makes some people quite uncomfortable. Also, OPTP needs to come up with something new and stop copying others, as in this case, McDonald’s.

However, we are yet to know what is cooking behind this message as the official account has not uploaded any advertisement behind the message.
