It might have happened a bit later than usual but, Apple has finally unveiled its all-new iPhone 12 line up during the special virtual event. In their “Hi-speed” event, they have announced four new iPhone models dubbed the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 pro and iPhone 12 pro max, featuring support for 5G, a new super retina XDR display, better cameras and a new squared-off design that takes us back to the famous iPhone 4. All of the iPhone 12 models launched this year, are powered by A14 Bionic, world’s first chip in the smartphone industry built on the 5-nanometre process. According to Apple, its new 6-core CPU is up to 50% faster than any other smartphone. It also includes a new 4-core GPU which is up to 50% faster than any other smartphone available in the market.
Compared to last year models, all new iPhone models have OLED displays and has “ceramic shield” which provides increased durability and 4x better drop protection. Not only that, the pro and pro max models have slightly larger screen size than their iPhone 11 counterparts with 6.1” and 6.7” display size respectively.
In the same event, Apple also introduced the new “MagSafe” system that will improve the wireless charging in iPhone 12. With built-in magnets into the back of iPhone 12, users will be able to properly line up all supported MagSafe accessories.
How much does the iPhone 12 and 12 mini Cost?
Apple has announced that its iPhone 12 and 12 mini models will start at $799 and $699 respectively. However, when you go to Apple website, you will see that these prices are only for Verizon and AT&T carrier users in the US. Every other carrier user will pay $30 more. This increase also applies to higher storage capacity models of iPhone 12 and 12 mini.
Right now, it isn’t clear that this $30 increase coming from Apple is some kind of special discount for Verizon and AT&T customers, because on their website, it is listed as an “instant discount”. Whether this $30 discount is permanent or a limited time offer for them, it isn’t clear yet. Whatever the reason may be, this is something you should be aware of if you’re looking to pre-order iPhone 12 and 12 mini.
If we apply this $30 increase to all the variants of 12 and 12 mini then following will be the prices.
- 64GB model ($829 instead of $799)
- 128GB model ($879 instead of $849)
- 256GB model ($979 instead of $949)
- 64GB model ($729 instead of $699),
- 128GB model ($779 instead of $749)
- 256GB model ($879 instead of $849).
Please Note: This $30 increase hasn’t been applied on pro models.

When does iPhone 12 Pre-order Start
The timing of the pre-order will depend on the model you want to buy.
- The pre-order of iPhone 12 and 12 Pro will start on Friday, October 16th (5 pm. PST) and ships on October 23rd.
- The pre-order of iPhone 12 mini and 12 Pro Max will start on Friday, November 6th (No time announced yet) and ships on November 13th.

- Access Apple official website.
- After accessing it, click on “iPhone”.
- Right now, only iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are available for pre-orders, so choose any one of them.
- Once you have selected the phone you want to pre-order, you will see the “view pricing” option. Click on it.
- After clicking it, choose your preferred model and then the colour you want.
- Next up, select your carrier then choose the capacity which is right for you.
- In the next step, you’ll be asked whether you want to trade-in your smartphone with Apple or not. Select the option of your choice.
- Finally, click on continue to complete the pre-order procedure.
