5 Blockbuster Dramas that Fawad Khan Turned Down

The ‘Humsafar’ star is very picky about his projects.

Fawad Khan is one of the biggest names in not just Pakistan but in Bollywood as well. The actor, and former lead singer of the rock band EP, has starred in not one but three Bollywood films!

While he is an in-demand celebrity now, his big break came from his work in drama serials. His performances in Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai made him a household name.

Now, the actor rarely does dramas and is very picky about his projects.

Fawad Khan is notorious for rejecting roles and he has been offered to star in many dramas. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest dramas that Fawad Khan missed out on.

Sadqay Tumharay

Based on the real-life story of controversial writer Khalil-Ur-Rehman Qamar, Sadqay Tumharay was a very popular show.

Directed by Mohammad Ehteshamuddin, the show offered Fawad Khan a chance to star with his Humsafar costar Mahira Khan.

Or maybe Khalil wanted someone just as ‘good looking’ as himself, so he turned to Fawad Khan. However, the actor/rock star rejected the role and Adnan Malik was cast in his place.

Neeyat

Airing just before Humsafar, this drama could have changed history as it featured Mahira Khan.

While fans loved the chemistry and dynamic between Fawad and Mahira’s character in Humsafar, it would have been very interesting to see both of them as two completely different individuals in New York.

Sadly, it didn’t happen and Humayun Saeed was cast instead.

Shukk

A popular drama series from 2013, Shukk featured a cast with included Ayesha Khan, Adeel Hussain and even Fawad’s Zindagi Gulzar Hai co-star Sanam Saeed.

We can’t help but wonder what could have been if Fawad Khan was there.

Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu

Based on a popular novel, Mata-e-Jann Hai Tu was a blockbuster drama of its time.

Fawad Khan was initially offered the role alongside Sarwat Gilani, but the Humsafar star turned it down. In the end, Adeel Hussain was cast in his place.

This is the second time Adeel has been the backup choice for Fawad Khan (we’re seeing a pattern here).

Pyaray Afzal

Another popular drama serial written by Khalil-Ur-Rehman Qamar (seems like Fawad Khan has no interest in Khalil’s scripts), Pyaray Afzal made Hamza Ali Abbasi a household name.

Directed by Nadeem Baig, the drama is a romantic show full of twists and turns with an emotional ending. It would have been interesting to see Fawad and Ayeza as an onscreen couple but it was not meant to be. Here’s hoping we see the two in future projects.
