This Is How Amitabh Bachchan Got His Famous Surname
Half a century in film and Bollywood’s Shehnshah is known as one of the greatest actors of the Indian cinema.
While the superstar has delivered iconic performances through the ages, his recent works are definitely something to look out for. After a successful 52 years in commercial cinema, the Bollywood megastar has been part of a number of critically acclaimed indie films.
Strangely a lot of his recent work has been non-commercial. Amitabh Bachchan has still got it, as he delivers moving performances. So we compiled a list of recent Amitabh Bachchan movies to watch on Netflix.
Badla
This crime thriller pairs the megastar with Taapsee Pannu yet again. The duo creates a killer team on-screen. Badla follows a homicide defendant and her lawyer as they piece together how the suspect ended up in a locked hotel room with her dead lover.
This movie is actually a production of Red Chillis Entertainment, Shahrukh Khan’s production house!
T3EN
As of late Amitabh has been working in a lot of indie films. With his global fame, the actor seems to be giving a platform to issues that people should be aware of. The stellar cast includes indie superstars like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan.
This emotionally charged film follows the story of John Biswas 8 years after losing his granddaughter, Angela, in a tragic kidnapping. John teams up with an ex-cop turned priest and lady cop to crack the cold case and save another kidnapping victim.
PINK
This feminist masterpiece really goes all out to elaborate consent for men. Aside from BigB the indie gem features Taapsee Pannu. Audiences will struggle to keep their eyes on the protagonist, Taapsee’s Minal, but BigB stole the spotlight with every second on-screen.
Now that it’s on Netflix, there’s really no excuse why you haven’t seen it yet.
Satyagraha
This movie is a political drama directed by Prakash Jha. Bollywood’s Shehnshah plays the pivotal role of ‘Dwarka Anand‘, with other cast members including, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Rao, etc.
The film follows Manav as he spearheads a public campaign against the entitlement of politicians.
Bombay Talkies
This film features Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, and Katrina Kaif along with indie superstars Randeep Hooda, Saqib Saleem, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Bombay Talkies follows a number of characters in an anthology series; a gay man coming to terms with his sexual identity; a struggling actor with an epiphany; a boy who becomes a dancer; and a man trying to fulfill his father’s dying wish.
While the movie might not grow on you at first there’s a reason it was nominated for an award at Cannes.
Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap
Although this movie is from the mid-2000s, the cast is bound to hit you with a wave of nostalgia. The film features names like BigB, Hema Malini, and Raveena Tandon.
The movie follows an aging hitman, played by Amitabh, that returns from exile in Paris to his old city, Mumbai, to perform one last job. He’s hit by a blast from the past along the way. Not to mention the cheeky dialogues will make you gush and crack you up.
Netflix links to all these movies are provided in the explainers. So what are you waiting for? Having a BigB movie marathon over the weekend. Let us know what you think of these BigB films in the comment section.
