8 Pakistani Actors Who are Also Writers

Some surprising entries!

We’ve seen plenty of actors turn to production over the years, but how many Pakistani actors are also writers? Both art forms are worlds apart.

Writing is more in-depth while acting is more about keeping up appearances. But believe it or not, there are artists that have mastered both.

Writing requires detail to plot and character development, which helps with the actor’s characterization. Even great writers like Stephen King and Stan Lee opt for minor roles in productions based on their writing.

In the Pakistani drama industry, there are such writer-actors as well who either keep a low-profile or take center stage.

Who are these writers and actors in Pakistan’s entertainment industry?

Bushra Ansari

The legendary actress recently finished writing her first drama Zebaish. The actress plays the lead in her own creation.

Meanwhile, the director took on the role of the main antagonist. Despite the big names associated with the project, the audience seems disappointed with Bushra’s first attempt at writing a drama serial.

Mustafa Afridi

Mustafa has penned the scripts for Sang-e-Marmar and Ehd-e-Wafa. He’s providing a refreshing change from the usual run-down narratives that most Pakistani dramas seem to present.

We often overlook his side role as ‘Azhar‘ in Aangan. Maybe he’ll keep taking minor roles in his scripts from now on.

Imran Ashraf

This incredibly talented writer started off as a writer. He debuted with supporting roles in Aisay Jalay Jiya, Gul-e-Rana, Dil Lagi, etc. He also appeared in Dil-e-Janam and Tabeer.

Now he’s making waves with his performance in Alif Allah Aur Insan, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, Dil Mom Ka Diya, and more.

This Pakistani actor actually penned the script for Tabeer and Mushk.

Angeline Malik

The bombshell actress is known to take on roles that will make your insides squirm. The unapologetic honesty of her characters are often the topic of conversations. Angeline Malik has starred in drama serials like Rani to Aakhri Baarish.

However, she’s fond of creating strong characters too. She penned the script for Woh Chaar, Kitni Girhein Baaki Hei, and Susral Ke Rang Anokhe. She has also taken on directorial duties.

Yasra Rizvi

We all know Yasra’s poetic side. She is an incredible writer par excellence. But did you know Yasra Rizvi penned the script for Ustani Jee? She even played the protagonist in her serial.

She’s also revered as an actress for her role in Maan Ke Moti, Malika-e-Aliya, and more.

Vasay Chaudhry

This comedian and actor have written everything from scripts to dialogues for award shows. His sense of humor translates through his scripts and other writing works.

Vasay Chaudhry also had supporting roles in the films he has written scripts for, such as Jawani Phir Nahi Aani.

Like many veteran Pakistani actors, Shaan Shahid has been directing and producing his own films for a while now. With his remake of Bollywood’s Arth, he also started writing.

Since Arth 2 – The Final Destination, he has even penned the script for his upcoming action flick Zarrar.

Inam Hasan

Inam Hasan has had side roles in Mera Dil Mera Dushman, Superstar, Mehrunnisa V Lub U, Actor in Law, and Mah-e-Mir. We think he really likes being in the background.
