Emmy award-winning Pakistani-British actor Riz Ahmed will produce and act in music drama Mughal Mowgli. Riz Ahmed also co-wrote the script.
The movie will be about a British Pakistani rapper who is stuck at a crossroads where he can go after the big break he’s been working on or take downtime to recover from a mysterious illness that he’s contracted.
Mughal Mowgli will mark the feature directorial debut of documentary film-maker Bassam Tariq.

Mughal Mowgli to Start Production this Month
The film’s production is set to begin this month. Riz Ahmed’s production house Left Handed Films is producing the film.
Silvertown Films, with BBC Films, Cinereach, SF FILM Invest, Vice Studios, and RYOT Films are also chipping in financially for the production of Mughal Mowgli.

Riz Ahmed started in the music industry before he became an actor. The Venom star should feel right at home playing the role of a rapper. Back in 2011, Riz Ahmed released his debut solo album Englistan. He moved on to form popular duo Swet Shop Boys in 2014.
Riz Ahmed won an Emmy for his role in HBO’s The Night Of, making him the first British-Pakistani to win an Emmy.
Riz made it big in Hollywood with the role of Bodhi Rook, in the Stars Wars prequel Rogue One (2016). Since then he’s starred in Jacques Audiard’s The Sisters Brothers, Venom, and more.
Riz Ahmed is currently working on BBC’s television drama Road to Englistan, which will narrate the story of three generations of a British-Pakistani family over the course of four decades.
