President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Sourav Ganguly and the Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in a row over Imran Khan.

Ganguly’s professionalism prevents him from removing the photograph of former Pakistan captain Imran Khanfrom Eden Gardens stadium, just because Khan is now the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

After the Pulwama attack, the Mumbai Cricket Club of India removed photographs of Imran Khan. Later other cricket clubs followed suit, with the exception of CAB.

The BJP is demanding that PM Imran Khan’s photograph be removed from the club-house of the iconic cricket stadium of Kolkata, the Eden Gardens.

Despite BJP’s protests, Ganguly says he will “stick to his earlier position”.

A Game of Politics?

This conflict is being interpreted as a political proxy between the BJP and Trinamol Congress. Even the people of Twitter are in on this conspiracy.

The journalist community seems to be on Ganguly’s side in this one.

Indian journalist Kenan Malik tweeted out support for the CAB President saying ‘he never backed down as the Indian cricket captain’, thus implying that he won’t do so now.

Film-maker Pooja Bhatt, daughter of Mahesh Bhatt chipped in too.

Respecting for Dada!
