In a shocking turn of events, a man named Qasim killed two people for stealing the WiFi password in Karachi. Just when you think it can’t get any crazier out there, a man showcased he values the Internet over all else.
The resident of the Quaidabad area of Karachi, he shot a father Farooq and his younger son, Haris for allegedly stealing his WiFi password. ARY News reports that Qasim killed the father and son on a whim after a fight between them place over a month and a half ago.

Murder over a password
Qasim had threatened Farooq and his younger son, Haris over the alleged theft of his WiFi password and Internet service. According to the relatives of the victims, they had registered a case against Qasim for making serious life threats to Adnan, Farooq’s other son.
After charges were been registered, Qasim had long gone into hiding. Farooq worked at a Steel Mill. While his son Haris was a graduate student at Karachi University.
At a time when people are killing their own loved ones amidst social media addiction, this incident is not surprising. However, this doesn’t make the harrowing murder of a father and son any less tragic.

Previously there have been instances of teens acting impulsively in such murders. This is the first time a grown man was involved. Recently a man in Tamilnadu killed his wife for making TikTok videos.
Social media-centered deaths from accidents have become common with teens dying in accidents while filming. Then there was the whole ‘Blue Whale’ video game suicide streak.
The problem lies in human insensitivity, and in using digital media and social media as an excuse.
