Drama Meray Paas Tum Ho has been breaking viewership records every week. But how much of it is actually “real”?
We all know about the viral “thappar” memes and are also familiar with how Danish (Humayun Saeed) became a billionaire overnight. But have you ever thought to yourself “how is this possible”? Can a company’s shares actually plummet to Rs 11.80? Can those shares also shoot to Rs 52.80 within a week? The answer to all these questions is NO!
Samaa TV explored these ‘crucial’ issues and revealed the truth behind the massive calculation.
The Math
Samaa Money‘s business journalist Farooq Baloch did the real calculation and proved the scriptwriters wrong. He pointed out that scene where Danish goes to his friend and asks him to buy 700,000 shares of Shahwar Chemicals which he buys at the price of 11.80 Rs each, “his friend calculates the value of those shares and concludes the amount to be Rs 7,740,00, which is actually wrong,” said Farooq Baloch. As per calculations, the actual amount should be Rs. 7,840,000.

He then explained that any company whose shares are worth Rs 20 or more, cannot plummet by Rs 25 in a day, like what happened in the drama.
Similarly, a share also cannot go from Rs 11 to Rs 50 or more in a week. That is because according to the rules of the stock market, all shares above Rs. 20 cannot increase or decrease by 5% in a day. All shares below Rs 20 can’t increase by more than a rupee in a day.
This means that if Danish bought a share at the price of Rs 11, it cannot shoot up to Rs 60 in a week. In fact, it will take a lot of time to increase its value up to that mark.
Farooq Baloch exclaimed, “Esa sirf dramon mein hota hai” (It only happens in the dramas) and concluded that the stock market doesn’t work like this.
