As Bollywood’s boycott of Pakistan goes strong, Salman Khan had to cancel a live event organized by a Pakistani-American.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FCIWE) is slamming artists across borders. Salman Khan canceled a live performance organized in the United States because a Pakistani-American Rehan Siddiqui organized the event.

The event appears to be one of a series of meet and greets in the US.

Rehan Siddiqui is an organizer known to arrange events in the US that feature acts from both Pakistan and India.

Bollywood continues to snub Lollywood

This is not the first time Indian artists have stopped working with people even remotely Pakistani, even for events hosted abroad.

Previously the 90s trio, singers Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, and Udit Narayan canceled a show at the last minute. The reason? It was organized in the US by promoters of Pakistani origin.

The decision came after all three were handed notices from FWICE. Kumar Sanu posted a video detailing the decision;

“Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan and I are coming to the United States to perform but we will not attend any show promoted by a Pakistani. Promoters who are from other countries have nothing to worry about. We will be performing in their shows,”

The popular trio of the 90s was set to perform together at on November 17th in the US. FWICE caught whiff of the news that the event’s organizer is a Pakistani national, Moazzma Hunain.

FCIWE prohibited Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, and Udit Narayan from being a part of the concert.

With how much FWICE is interfering in events in the US, will the local or state authorities retaliate?

Amid all the political tensions, the ban on cross border collaboration in arts between India and Pakistan is understandable. How this ban can extend to events and works in countries like the US is questionable.

With FWICE extending it’s iron-fist to Indian artists anywhere, several Bollywood figures have on multiple occasions explicitly refused to associate themselves with Pakistan in any way.
