Seems like Faisalabad Police is under fire again. The authorities were recently allowed the use of tasers on the public, but it turns out that not even a change of weapons has changed the Faisalabad Police’s old ways. Netizens are calling out Faisalabad Police for being too taser happy while enforcing COVID-19 SOPs.
It’s understandable that the police are just doing their job when they sternly ask people to take precautionary measures before leaving the house amid an ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, Punjab Police’s use of excessive force is not, and has never been understandable.

We all know it’s a scary time we’re living in, with all that uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak. Police are just doing their jobs stopping people who aren’t wary enough to even wear a mask but the use of excessive force is never okay.
Samaa News reported that Faisalabad Police land are using tasers on people, particularly motorcyclists that weren’t wearing masks. This cruelty sent shockwaves through Twitter, as people called out the use of excessive force.

Why not pull people over and slap them with a fine, as the COVID-19 SOPs demand they should. Samaa News reported how apparently Faisalabad Police want this to be a deterrent to people who don’t wear masks.
Someone must’ve thought maybe taking their weapons away might solve the police’s problem with excessive force. However civil security needs at least some sort of weapon, so how about a taser.
If we think Punjab Police wouldn’t overdo it with what’s supposed to be a non-lethal weapon, think again. Tasers are seen as a non-lethal weapon but the voltage is enough to kill a grown man if used on the torso.
