Gohar Rasheed’s pandemic film titled ‘Lockdown‘ has seen a change of cast. Sonya Hussyn has replaced lead actress Faryal Mehmood in the film.

According to the film’s director Abu Aleha, Faryal Mahmood leaving the project was a mutual understanding. She wanted to leave and the filmmakers were accepting of her choice.

The Enaaya actress says that she backed out of the project because she wasn’t feeling well, and wasn’t up for the intense shoot. She added that the filming dates were also not flexible for her.

Now Ishq Zahey Naseeb actress Sonya Hussyn will play the female protagonist in the flick. Previously, Gohar Rasheed told Images that the film about the lockdown situation is actually a love story.

“It’s a love story with the backdrop of lockdown and the horrors of Covid-19. The whole world is experiencing it right now, … how a common man get affected by [the coronavirus], how a simple couple gets affected by the horror of Covid-19 and the repercussions of lockdown.”

The film is being produced for an online streaming platform, with Netflix or Amazon being top contenders so far. Abida Ahmed penned the script, while Asad Malik will be the director of photography. Mont Blanc will produce the film.

Shooting for Lockdown is currently underway. While the movie is expected to release soon, there is no official Lockdown release date as of yet.
