The world is seeing a new wave of #MeToo movement and new allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment are being poured out on the internet. The new wave took Ubisoft, a video game company, by surprise. Among others, Muslim creative director, Ashraf Ismail, was also accused of cheating on his wife and lying to women about his marriage.

A woman took to Twitter to share how she was manipulated into believing that Ashraf, the creative director behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, was single. He has two kids and has been happily married. However, he told the woman he was single and dated her for one year in 2017 and 2018.

She also added that she asked him on numerous occasions whether or not he was married. But, Ashraf always spewed lies. If it hadn’t been for his coworkers, the accuser would have never found out.

This post along with allegations of other employees, created havoc on the internet. Ubisoft responded by saying,

We are deeply concerned by these accusations. We take any allegations of abuse or harassment very seriously and we are looking very closely into the allegations to determine next steps.

Ashraf also took to Twitter to announce that he is stepping down and leaving his post at Ubisoft. He says he wants to take this time and deal with the personal issues in his life.

I am stepping down from my beloved project to properly deal with the personal issues in my life. The lives of my family and my own are shattered. I am deeply sorry to everyone hurt in this.

There are hundreds of talented, passionate people striving to build an experience for you that do not deserve to be associated with this. I wish them all the best.

He has since deleted his Twitter account and seems like he’s taking the time off from social media. One Twitter user responded to the accuser’s post by saying he mentioned being single to her as well.

Ubisoft also responded to the allegations against Ashraf Ismail. In a statement, they said,

Ashraf Ismail is stepping down from the project to take a leave of absence. The development team is committed to delivering a great game in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
