The success story of K-pop boy group BTS is inspiring. They literally started from the bottom and now they are the only Korean artists to perform at London’s Wembley Stadium. Tickets to that event were sold out in just 90 minutes. That’s how popular they are.
Like any other part of the world, BTS’s fans, aka ARMY are also present in Pakistan. Pakistani ARMYs don’t appear in the headlines often, but hey, they are just as much devoted to their faves as any international fanbase.
But unfortunately, they are also the ones who are easily criticized for following some ‘flower boys’. To be fair, this intolerance isn’t limited to Pakistan only, given how Asians have their own stereotypes against other Asian ethnicities.
But stereotypes or not, what better way to shut them up than showing them that K-pop is not just about a few boys dancing to an upbeat song. K-Pop isn’t just Gangnam Style, a song by South Korean singer PSY which became a global sensation in 2012. It’s more than that.
And recently, Pakistani K-Pop fans made sure to tell the world just that.
BTS trends in Pakistan
This isn’t the first time the boy group has made to nationwide social media trends. Recently, a local news channel reported the success of BTS’s Black Swan which has broken sales records on iTunes and topped music charts.

GNN mentioned how BTS KA KOI MUQABIL NAHI (there’s no competition to BTS) and Pakistani ARMYs rejoiced this moment of pride by trending it on Twitter. BTS is breaking and setting new records and people are finally realizing the power they hold.
This also goes to show that music truly transcends language and boundaries because you don’t see these types of trends every day on Pakistani social media.
